Check how the City of Lompoc Water Treatment Plant uses Limble CMMS to help ensure their clean water infrastructure and reduce their risk of downtime. If you’re not already using some kind of maintenance software, this should be your first investment. Technology like CMMSs, IoT devices, and predictive analytics can significantly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of your asset management program. Some assets will be fine with just a little bit of preventive maintenance, while others may require a unique balance different maintenance strategies, all of which come with their pros and cons.

It includes a legend that labels various utility infrastructure such as water lines, sanitary sewer lines, gate valves, and cleanouts. For other ways to give to RMI, including checks or gifts of stock, please visit Other Ways to Give. Projected capacity and total generation (load) is based on data collected manually from IRPs by EQ Research, with RMI corrections, combined with historical data.

Overbuilding — building too much, too quickly — leads to unnecessary infrastructure, stranding costs and driving up electricity rates for everybody. Graduates of the program will receive an Electric Utility Planner Certificate issued by Cal Poly Pomona’s College of Professional and Global Education (CPGE), recognizing their successful completion of the program and readiness for careers in the utility planning field. This curriculum provides students with a strong foundation in the technical knowledge and practical skills required to support utility planning, engineering, construction coordination, and infrastructure development. Reimagining utility planning and procurement processes to best meet this period of sustained load growth will require bold innovation. Equipped with these options from resource plans, tariffed customers could make informed, cost-effective choices to build incremental resources that meet their needs. While this is only an indicative example for a single utility, considering some estimates have US data center demand set to double, these billions are just a drop in the bucket of infrastructure building and data center economic activity.

States Are Opening the Door to Data Center Investment in Virtual Power Plants

Shopee had also received extreme international attention in 2019 after signing Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to be the ambassador for the company. The company partners with over 70 courier service providers across markets it serves to provide logistical support for users. Sea and OpenAI also said they were exploring the use of OpenAI’s agent technology https://www.faststartfinance.org/hague-agreement-china/ for shopping-related tasks and providing AI tools to Shopee merchants.

This reflects 6 GW of additional wind and solar capacity (+1 GW from 2025 Q2), 53 GW of additional gas capacity (+4 GW from 2025 Q2), and 7 GW (+0 GW from 2025 Q2) of additional coal retirements compared to utility plans at the end of 2023. Current planned capacity in IRPs across the United States (Exhibit 3) includes 259 GW of wind and solar additions, 103 GW of gas additions, and 74 GW of coal retirements between 2023 and 2035. Load changes from residential customers are relatively smoother and more predictable, and recent IRPs expressed more challenges with forecasting large loads and predicting increases in extreme weather events. Most decarbonization pathways, including the IEA NZE, find that the electricity sector needs to reach net-zero emissions by 2035. Utilities discussed the difficulty of planning with all these sources of uncertainty and change, reflecting that the industry is undergoing an intense period of change and needs to learn new methods to effectively meet the needs of the future grid.

The utility’s https://thecolumbianews.net/the-prefabricated-portuguese-house-gomos-system.html forecast for metered large load demand as of December 2024, shown in green below, anticipates demand from data centers growing by about 600 megawatts per year, to 10.5 gigawatts in total, by 2035. Underbuilding — building too little, too slowly — can mean missed economic opportunities. This demand for new power has triggered a cascade of revised utility forecasts, which are used as the foundation of utility investment decisions.

The class is fully online via ZOOM, with 7 weeks per core course, 4-hour sessions each Saturday, weekly assignments, and a final exam The program consists of two required core courses—Principles of Utility Planning I and Principles of Utility Planning II—followed by one elective course in AutoCAD, C.P.M. Scheduling, Pole Loading with SPIDA®calc, or Practical Applications of Electric Utility Design Standards. The monthly Economic Development Summary informs the community on all current development activities. For example, identifying “Large Load Zones,” in planning could direct investments into areas that are more cost-effective to serve today or create greater planning certainty about where to build new resources. Some large load tariffs also contain provisions that allow large loads to bring their own generation or work with the utility to secure generation on their behalf (e.g., Nevada’s Clean Transition Tariff), and interconnect more rapidly than if they were served by traditional procurement. Outside of the standard planning and procurement process, utilities are turning to large load tariffs to set the conditions under which new loads can take service.

By Q2 2023, Shopee remained the largest online marketplace in Southeast Asia, with a traffic share ranging from 30% to 50% across the region, and also ranked as the leading online shopping platform in Taiwan. The platform also facilitates online buying and selling for consumers and sellers in East Asia and Latin America. Ltd., trading as Shopee, is a Singaporean multinational technology company that specialises in e-commerce and operates mainly in Southeast Asia.

A CMMS is designed to streamline and enhance every aspect of effective asset management and maintenance. Be sure to include the various types of resources needed to execute your plan effectively. No asset management plan will be effective without the resources to execute it. Your technology investment will ultimately depend on the criticality of the issues you want to prevent, the compatibility with existing systems, and the cost of implementation.

  • Utilities discussed the difficulty of planning with all these sources of uncertainty and change, reflecting that the industry is undergoing an intense period of change and needs to learn new methods to effectively meet the needs of the future grid.
  • IRPs do not provide a fully accurate prediction of the future, but we focus on them because they reflect the direction that utilities are currently striving for and a set of proposed actions to get there.
  • Georgia Power, home to one of the biggest data center booms in the country, has seen its anticipated demand in 2030 grow by 7 gigawatts, or almost half the current system’s peak demand, between its 2022 and 2025 IRPs.
  • Graduates of the program will receive an Electric Utility Planner Certificate issued by Cal Poly Pomona’s College of Professional and Global Education (CPGE), recognizing their successful completion of the program and readiness for careers in the utility planning field.
  • This demand for new power is leaving traditional utility planning processes ill-prepared to deliver resources to serve these customers while safeguarding rate payers from overbuilding.

Santee Cooper’s IRP (Figure 8) is a highlight example, where a range of uncertainty in potential new large loads from 101 to 1,536 MW accounts for a majority of the difference between high and low load cases. Load growth continues to be driven in the short term primarily by large loads such as data centers. If all companies in our coverage meet their targets, they will only reduce emissions by 63 percent by 2035, compared to a 2005 baseline. Unfortunately, utility company targets often aim for net-zero emissions by 2050 and often do not comprehensively cover emissions from both owned (Scope 1) and purchased (Scope 3) emissions. In our current snapshot of IRPs (Exhibit 1), we continue to see a gap between projected emissions, target emissions, and decarbonization pathways such as the International Energy Agency’s Net Zero Emissions by 2050 Scenario (IEA NZE).

However, by early 2022, Shopee exited the European markets of France and Spain, retaining only its operations in Poland. Shopee expanded its operations to Brazil in 2019, marking its first venture into Latin America. Shopee was recognized as top shopping app in Q based on monthly active users, total downloads, and website visits, as per a report by iPrice. A December 2017 survey revealed that Shopee was the top shopping platform for Indonesian mothers, with 73% preferring it over other platforms. That same year, Shopee’s 9.9 Super Shopping Day campaign featured a video of Ronaldo dancing to «Baby Shark» in an advert for the company.
